About the Planetary Mixer 40 Litre

A 40 litre bowl on 2 KW, taking up to 12 kg of dough. The largest planetary in the range, for a kitchen where one machine has to cover cream, batter and dough at volume.

The planetary action - attachment orbiting the bowl while spinning on its own axis - is what makes it useful across so many jobs. At 40 litres it will aerate a large batch of cream as readily as it will beat a cake mix.

Twelve kilos of dough is a serious amount for a planetary, and it is the point at which most bakeries stop asking one machine to do everything. The usual arrangement past here is a spiral mixer for bread and a planetary for the rest, rather than one machine doing both jobs adequately.

At 2 KW and this size, confirm the supply and the floor position before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

How much power does it draw?
It draws 2 KW. Check that the point it will run on is rated for that before installing it.
What is the bowl capacity?
The bowl is 40 litre.
How much dough can it knead in one batch?
Up to 12 kg. That is the dough limit, which is a lower number than the bowl capacity because dough is the hardest thing you can ask it to do.
Why choose a planetary mixer over a spiral?
A planetary takes a whisk, a beater and a hook, so one machine covers cream, batter, icing and dough. It is the all-purpose choice; for bread in quantity a spiral mixer of the same litreage develops dough better.
What size mixer should I buy?
Match it to the batch you usually make rather than the largest you ever make. A mixer run well under capacity does not work the dough as well as one working near it.
What other sizes are available?
This category also has the Planetary Mixer 10 Litre, the Planetary Mixer 20 Litre and the Planetary Mixer 30 Litre. Tell us your daily output and we will point you at the right one.
What is the model number?
Model B-40.
